Join us Saturday, October 21st at the Blue Water Grill for our monthly meeting. This month we are honored to have Marylee MacDonald as our guest speaker. Marylee will be discussing an interesting topic: "Skills Journalists Bring to Writing Fiction (and Some New Skills Needed for Success).". Marylee MacDonald will discuss objectivity, story structure, voice, and sentences and share her journey from carpenter/magazine journalist (Sunset, Better Homes & Gardens, Old-House Journal) to becoming a writer of fiction. Widely published in literary magazines, her fiction has won the Barry Hannah Prize, ALR Fiction Prize, Ron Rash Award, and many others. Her short story collection, BONDS OF LOVE & BLOOD, was a finalist in Foreword Reviews' INDIEFAB Awards. Her novel, MONTPELIER TOMORROW, won a Gold Medal for Drama from Readers' Favorites International Book Awards.
So please join us at 12 pm for an afternoon of information and enjoyment. Blue Water Grill is located at 16th Street and Camelback Road in Phoenix. Our meeting runs from noon until 2 pm, and we hope to see you there.
