“Everything happens for a reason, that reason is usually physics”

Eric Miller is a business owner, engineer, writer, speaker, and tech community gadfly.  He has lived and worked in Phoenix, Arizona, since graduating from UC Berkeley with a Mechanical Engineering degree. After a few years working in turbomachinery, he co-founded the Southwest’s leading mechanical engineering products and services company, PADT. After his two sons left the nest, Eric became involved in the local tech ecosystem as a mentor, speaker, and writer, which culminated with four years as Chair of the Arizona Technology Council Board of Directors.

His writing career began with technical articles for engineering trade magazines (pack when actual paper magazines existed), and then authored much of the content for the company’s newsletter and extensive blog.  He currently pens a monthly column for the Phoenix Business Journal, with over 250 articles since 2017. He also works as a freelance written content creator, writing about everything from software development management to advanced physics simulation. He earned a certificate from the UC Berkeley Extension Writing Program in 2024 and is working on his skills as a fiction writer. Branching into the audible world, Eric hosts three podcasts: All Things Ansys, TechFocus Member Spotlight, and The AZ TechCast.

Eric has self-published two books and one short story: Better Blogging for Your BusinessIntroduction to the Ansys Parametric Design Language (APDL), and Mr. Squirrel Say Hi
