Phoenix Writers Club Author Profile

Kristen Joy Hugins

Kristen Joy Hugins is a writer, editor, and owner of Joyfull Communications, a Phoenix-based content and communications firm. Her writing life began early — she published her first short story about a runaway dog named Rag Tag in a children’s literary journal in fourth grade — and she seized every opportunity to write, both creatively and professionally, into her adult life. Today, she channels that same love for story into helping entrepreneurs, authors, and small business owners find their voice and share it with the world.

With a BA in English and Philosophy and over 20 years of experience in marketing, communications, and content leadership, Kristen has guided businesses, nonprofits, and schools in telling their stories well. She is an International Bestselling Author and writes across a wide range of forms, from personal essays and blog content to full-length books and brand narratives.

At Joyfull Communications, Kristen and her team specialize in ghostwriting, copywriting, brand voice development, editing, and content strategy, with a focus on human-made writing that is built to last in a world full of shortcuts. Their clients span the Arts and Culture, Health and Wellness, and Personal Finance spaces, and they take pride in producing content that sounds like the person, not a template.

Kristen is also the founder of Authors in Action, an online community and coaching program for writers who are ready to stop talking about their book and actually write it. Members receive accountability, expert guidance, vetted resources, and the kind of encouragement that makes the hard days easier.

When she is not writing or helping others write, Kristen can be found reading, dancing, spending time in nature, and building community wherever she goes. She is an active member of Phoenix Writers Club, Local First Arizona, eWomen Network, and The Women 360.
