April 2024

We welcome Christy White, Arizona State Poetry Society’s Branch President of Scottsdale Mustang Poets, for National Poetry Month.

Poetry lifts us in times of trouble and heightens joy within us in our everyday lives. Christy will share with us ‘the poetry that we’re already writing’, as we explore the ways that poetry is found in much of what we read and write in any genre.

Christy White has been writing poetry and the occasional short story since she learned to write in first grade. She has been published in journals in the US and in Great Britain. Last year, as poet and one of the editors, she was published in Bonfire of Poetry. She has also self-published several chapbooks including Rain: The Private Poems of Li Qingzhao. Christy earned her Masters in Creative Writing/Poetry in 2017 at Wilkes University. She has presented poetry workshops and read at venues in the US and in Glasgow, Scotland, while working full time as an accountant and HR Director. With poetry as a central passion, she has been a member and volunteer with the Arizona State Poetry Society since 1996, was a volunteer with the Tucson Poetry Festival, and e-publishes a monthly Poetry Missive about poetry in Arizona. Christy is currently the Outreach Director for ASPS. She has edited poetry books, fiction and non-fiction books, and articles for Ramciel and Idyllwild Life.
